Sold To The Highest Bidder is the true story of God’s relentless love for a young girl who hitchhiked across two countries with her father and was sold on the black market after his incarceration.  With no mother and a father who was a career criminal, she faced many challenges but none so great as a childhood riddled with abuse and the loss of her daughter to a sudden illness.  This little girl who had been buried in heartache with a lifetime of suffering, began to emerge and rise from the ashes as the woman God created her to be all along.  Her story includes glimpses she was given through dreams and visions that revealed the very real spiritual war being fought over her since birth.  However, what the enemy meant for harm, God would ultimately use for good.  Her personal testimony to the goodness of God would be used as a message of hope to the lost and the broken, so they could find the deliverance and restoration she found in Christ.  Out of the darkness emerged a butterfly.

Lisa Leigh Miller has recently written the story of her personal journey in a book titled “Sold To The Highest Bidder…A Father’s Relentless Love.”

Lisa’s journey includes homelessness, trafficking, abuse, bullying, poverty, dysfunction in the home, drugs, alcohol, divorce, the loss of a child and more. She opens her heart with brutal honesty, and sometimes chilling transparency, to share her personal experience of living in a “hell on earth.” She also offers real statistics and percentages that may shock the reader.

After finding herself homeless on the streets of Mexico City at the age of two and then “sold to the highest bidder” by a child trafficker, Lisa was miraculously rescued. But these horrifying events were only the first of repeated horrors she suffered throughout her growing-up years.

I found the book compelling and inspiring from front to finish, but I also found it uncomfortable at times. It tells the real story of how children are prepared or conditioned for aberrant sex and keeping secrets with testimony and teaching.

Yes, the book will make you uncomfortable. It will bring you to tears. It will make you angry. But it will also make you want to go out and do something about it. It will make you know that there is hope for anyone who has been battered, bruised, and abused by life.

The author uses plain language in describing the scenes from her life that are, frankly, indescribable. The reader never has to guess what Lisa is feeling or thinking. Her story is fast-paced and filled with heart-wrenching drama in the battle for her soul and for her very survival. She was victimized by almost everyone in her life and, sometimes, by her own wrong choices.

But, from the time of her conversion at the age of eight, Miller recognized God’s hand in her life. Through dreams and visions God spoke to her. Her story is filled with helplessness and heartache, forgiveness and healing, and the relentless love of a Father that would never let her go.

The author begins and ends each chapter, respectively, with a focus scripture and an all-inclusive healing prayer, together with two letters to her abuser at the end of the book.

The book is a must-read for pastors, counselors, teachers, and those who work with children, but also for those who have been abused or who have experienced dysfunction in the home. Men and women alike, as well as most youth, will find help, hope, healing, and the hand of God in Miller’s inspirational story.  https://www.okumc.org/newsdetail/book-review

Lisa L. Miller cracks open her heart for the reader to peer inside. With a beautifully orchestrated approach of revealing horrors and hope, pain and promises – she holds nothing in reserve. She tenderly and honestly shares the confusion, neglect, abuse, and slavery perpetrated upon her. The unimaginable story of pain begins at the age of 2, when she finds herself being sold to the highest bidder in Mexico City. The power of the redemptive, forgiving, gracious love of God is apparent in each word of Lisa’s story. Despite the abuse, no guile is found in the pages. For each horror, God gave her hope. For every pain, God fulfilled a promise. This book would be a bleak tragedy, if not for the eternal love of God for his children.

Ms. Miller intersperses numerous scriptures from the Word of God, to help the reader understand not only her heart – but most importantly – the heart of God. At the age of 8, Lisa reached up to Heaven and called upon Jesus for love. He answered immediately and has never forsaken her. As each chapter concludes, Lisa has written Holy Spirit-inspired prayers to help guide the reader into the gracious and healing love of Jesus Christ.

Join Lisa on this journey and be witness to the miraculous and redemptive. By the end of this incredible journey, you will come to understand that no life is worthless and no one – NO ONE, will ever outbid God for you.

It’s so beautiful to recall that regardless of who our parents are or what happens throughout our lives, we are children of the Most High God. He is our Heavenly Father! Lisa makes this so clear in her book. No matter what happens, it is never too late to turn to our true Father who is waiting to heal our hearts and call us Beloved. I am first and foremost the daughter of The King of the Universe. That is my identity. This book reminded me of that….

It’s a BUT GOD book…Whatever happens in our lives…BUT GOD. The book is an incredible testimony that no matter what, God can resurrect. He makes a way where there seems to be no way. He is an expert at using what the enemy meant to destroy us and turning it into something that glorifies Him.

I love how her words reminded me to focus on the blessings in my life. While reading this book, I felt the Holy Ghost so strongly. Lisa had a ghostwriter, and her ghostwriter was the Holy Ghost. I highly recommend this incredible book. Lisa bared her soul and lifted mine. The Lord will use her words to lift your soul too.

I am so thankful for Lisa’s raw honesty and hope. This is a must-read for anyone who works with children or adults who have been through abuse or trauma, or have gone through it themselves.

This is a rare book that pulls you into the story, and you find minutes melt away as you place yourself in the author’s shoes. The story is ghastly, yet comforting in seeing how God works to save his own.

This is an inspiring story of a girl who was juggled from one horror to the next and the strength she found by trusting in God. An outstanding read that shook me to my core. To survive this abuse and overcome is a testament to the person she is . This is a real story not for the faint hearted . So many time we sweep things under the rug because it is not comfortable. I feel this book was written for people that have no hope so they can see they are not alone and hope can always be found in Christ.
